Happy Birthday My Friends!

Today my baby friends and I celebrated our first birthdays together at our usual party place: Gymboree! We sang, played games, ate our birthday cake, and even got presents! Oh what fun it was to see how we've all grown this past year! I can't wait to see my friends again very soon. In the meantime, I'll miss you guys!
XOXO
Your buddy,
Declan

Yo Gabba Gabba!

Being the lucky lad that I am, my Mommy and Daddy took me to see "Yo Gabba Gabba!" today. I absolutely LOVE "Yo Gabba Gabba!" BUT I have not been my usual self as of late. You see, my molars are coming in and my schedule has been turned on its head. That said, I actually fell asleep during some of the performance. I can't believe I slept through the cacophony! Despite my poor performance, Mommy and Daddy said they'd take me again next year. As the Irish would say "If you're lucky enough to be Irish, then you're lucky enough!
Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Incase you didn't already know, I AM CANADIAN, but I'm also a wee bit Irish. In fact, my name - Declan NOT Bozabalian - is Irish and means "The good one." That being the case, I decided it was appropriate to celebrate my heritage and don an Irish cap. When I put on my cap, Mommy & Daddy said I looked a lot like a leprechaun. You won't believe this, but it was at that very moment that a rainbow appeared in my room!! If you don't believe me, look closely at the picture and see it for yourself! Unfortunately, there was no pot of gold at the end of it. That's okay because it's not often that one has their own personal rainbow for a day. I'm rich for that experience alone!

Slobber Slug Turns One!

Oh what a day! It's been filled with joy. Lots of love, and lots of toys! I had a slobber slug theme birthday with Mommy's side of the family (minus Uncle Shawn and Aunt Tina who were sadly missed), and lots of creepy crawler guests. Mom-Mom made swamp goo (jello), caterpillar canapes (wienie wraps), and slimy slugs (cookies). Mommy made food for worms (cupcakes), and crispy critters (Indian and Chinese hors d'oeurves). She also wrote me a poem. Pop-Pop wrote me a special birthday song that he played on guitar and sang, while the rest of us sang back-up and beat on the drums. Daddy took me to the supermarket to get balloons. We attracted a lot of attention. So many people stopped us to wish me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I had fantastic green and purple decorations, cool worm balloons, and confetti that popped out of a can! You couldn't imagine the number of presents I opened today. It took the entire day! Today was an incredible day! So many people went above and beyond for me. I'm so happy to be a part of this family!
Oh, and I'd like to extend a big THANK YOU to those of you who voted on my poll! Most of you thought that I should "Party like it's 1999!" That was good advice because that's exactly what I did, and it was a BLAST!

ALWAYS REMEMBER
by: Mommy (March 13, 2010)
Enter rooms with great joy shouts
Live life with your arms reached out
Fill each heart's shallow places
Twirl around large, open spaces
Hold tightly onto loving hands
Travel far off, curious lands
Remember family, cherish home
Be true to you, and you alone
Always remember, before you sleep
Count your blessings before your sheep

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It's Off to Work and Daycare We Go!

Today was a sad day indeed. Mommy returned to work and cried her eyes out. I felt so bad for her. Especially since I didn't cry at all. In fact, I had a good time with my new buddies at daycare. I know she'll feel better about leaving me each day with time. In the meantime, I just want her to know that it's okay that she's spending the day making other kids smart instead of me. That's because I get to spend my nights and weekends with not just one, but TWO Teachers who will help to make me smarter...beat that! Mommy, don't be sad. I love you to the moon and back!

Up to the Minute Update

Just prior to my 1st birthday, I have many more exciting past-times to report. I am currently enjoying stacking blocks on top of one another, and inside each-other. I like to push buttons on my toys to turn them on and off - especially my singing monkey (who I sing with on an on-going basis). I can't get enough of sliding the light switch up and down to turn the lights on and off (a special talent I developed just in time for Earth Day!). I also take great leisure in biting and hugging the faces of inanimate objects. Did I already mention that I relish in taking the lids off of containers and trying to put them back on again? Well, with that also comes emptying the containers and beginning to fill them back up again. I also use said containers as drums, and when they're not around, I get a kick out of using my lap. I'm still taking great pride in my ability to make my famous "Chucky Face, " as well as my upside down smile. I enjoy catching bubbles and staring at the stars in my room. I love singing and dancing with my Mommy, being thrown up in the air by my Pop-Pop, and hanging upside down with my Mom-Mom. I like nice, long walks on my street with Daddy. He takes me to see all of the locals and they OOOOh and Ahhh all over me. One local lady just made me a huge plate of Oriental dumplings! With all of that, I have to say, one of my current favourite things to do is to stand (hide) behind Mommy's back and see if she can find me. I like to sway one way and then the other so that she can see where I am. It's a ton of fun! Speaking of a ton of fun, blanket rides are a ton of fun!
Oh, and by the way, in case you didn't know, I'm giving out kisses now, so you can begin to line up. They're only 5 cents each. The only person I don't charge is Mephisto because he's not a person and he doesn't have any money. I actually enjoy kissing Mephisto because he kisses my tongue with his tongue. I give him 5 cents from my RESP every time he lets me kiss him (don't tell Mommy or Daddy about the RESP part). Mommy and Daddy think I'm gross, but I think it's more gross that Mephisto recently licked the poop that burst out of my diaper and onto my back!! ...Don't worry, I haven't kissed him since! BUT, I have been in the steady practice of licking each stair as I climb them.
Okay, there are a few more things I want to mention before I sign off. I'm currently pointing at everything in my line of site, and opening and closing doors. Last night, I actually closed my bedroom door on myself and got left in the dark. Not fun! I enjoy dancing by wiggling my body, stomping my feet, and shaking my head back and forth. I'm also in the practice of standing for longer periods of time, and it's only a matter of building a little more confidence before I'm walking on my own! When I feel like it, I say "Mom," "Dad," "Mom Mom," "bye bye," "hi," "sit," "what," "dog," "duck," "quack," "book," "Mmmm good," and any other words I feel like repeating out of the mouths of my elders. I'm also very good about picking out the books I want read to me, and handing them to Mommy. Well, I think that's about it. Whew! That's a long list, but now you know about most of the things you just might be missing!

Happy Birthday Auntie Lara!

It's your birthday, and we got busy blowing out candles together for both our birthdays at Grandma's and Grandpa's!
Oh what a treat! I thought those balloons they got us were really neat. I could play with them for hours, and watch them soar for miles. It was a great day, that brought out many smiles!
